The scenario these figures describe
  • One application with 300 test cases (90 basic, 150 average, 60 complex).
  • 12 full regression runs a year, each finding about 5 defects.
  • 40 new cases added a year as the product grows.
  • A loaded cost of $120k per engineer per year across 1800 working hours.
  • A 5-year horizon.

Three vendors, but not necessarily three cost shapes

Shortlists like this often mix classes: two platforms marketed on low-code authoring alongside a suite built on an RPA stack, which carries a different infrastructure footprint. That tells you which questions to put to each vendor, not what they will cost.

The RPA-platform question is an infrastructure question

If you already run the RPA platform, much of its infrastructure and administration is already paid for, so the marginal cost of adding testing is lower than this model shows. Set the infrastructure line to your incremental cost and the comparison changes shape.

Three columns is where per-case cost starts to matter more than totals

With three columns the absolute totals are harder to hold in your head and the least transferable to a different suite size. Cost per test case per year normalises across all three and survives a change of scope.

Questions

Is UiPath Test Suite a fair comparison to the other two?

It is a fair comparison if it is genuinely on your shortlist, which for packaged-application estates it often is. Its cost shape differs because its lineage differs, and the model shows that rather than hiding it.

Can I compare more than three vendors?

Yes. The calculator takes as many vendor columns as you need, and three is the minimum for a real comparison.
